Initial fit should allow the foot to settle naturally into the sandal's foot bed so that your foot sits inside the edge of the foot bed all the way around. This allows plenty of room for your toes to spread out and no areas of the foot are pinched. The straps should be adjusted enough to hold the foot comfortably in the sandal.
